A couple who were arrested in December after authorities seized a slew of narcotics and more than $140,000 in cash at their San Jacinto home admitted to the crime and were sentenced Monday at the Southwest Justice Center.
Pablo Garcia, 44, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance for sale with an enhancement of possession of a firearm and received seven years in state prison as part of a plea bargain, according to court records.
Rosa Garcia, 50, pleaded guilty to maintaining a home where drugs were sold and received three years' probation and 360 days of weekends to be served on house arrest, her Murrieta-based defense attorney Nic Cocis said.
Cocis said there was no information or evidence that Rosa Garcia was selling the drugs, but conceded there were indications that she was aware of the substances inside their home.
The raid took place at about 9 p.m. when members of the Allied Riverside County Narcotics Enforcement Team searched a home along the 300 block of East Second Street, San Jacinto police Sgt. Ted Hoffman said.
Inside the home and in a shed in the backyard, officers found more than 1 pound of methamphetamine and 16 grams of cocaine valued at about $40,000, team Cmdr. Ed Miller said.
Officers also found three firearms, Hoffman said. Miller said they were able to obtain a search warrant after receiving information that alleged sales were happening at the home and conducting surveillance on the residence. Miller said the couple had been living at the home for more than a decade.
